I've read Blood of the elves too. was quite excited to find it, couldn't wait to read it. Couldn't wait to finish it either. Disappointing is all I can say. Jury is still out on whether its a re-read to be sure. Other half and son will read it next…

OK my first fantasy book was thrust under my nose by my mate 20 odd years ago with a "read this or else" attachment. It was The Belgariad by David Eeddings. Not looked back since.
So how did you all get the first book and what was it?
my other half is going nuts about joe abercrombie. hes been giggling his way through them i have banned him from reading them and pratchett in bed!!!
