I have read the Sipstrassi Stones/Jerusalem Man series, but only recently read Legend. I've left my impressions of it up over on my blog.
Connery certainly has far more recognition and brings creditibility, to say nothing of box office sales, to the effort. But, I believe Winstone's portrayal of Druss would be more true to the mark.
I've thought a lot about how to cast Druss the Legend. I would love to see the role played by Ray Winstone (played Bors in Antoine Fuqua's King Arthur, 2004).
