This is a great list and the even better part is that I already have most of these on my wishlist (or have them already)! Congrats to all the authors and thanks to you Deborah for keeping us all informed. Now I'm off to pick up more books!
There are at least four names in the top 20 I'm delighted to see and hopefully I'll get a few more read before the next longlist is out! I love that I'm now looking at books I'd never before have picked up and I'll make more of an effort next year...
I know every single one of these books - I may not have read all of them but I know the writers and the books, having seen them being reviewed and interviewed on a variety of blogs. I love the genre and think these titles just goes to show the var...
I certainly picked up at least two books from the long list that I might not have otherwise. For the first go at it, this award has hit the ground running. I love everything that I have seen, thus far, surrounding what this award is doing for fant...

THE HERO OF AGES – Brandon Sanderson
THE WAY OF SHADOWS - Brent Weeks

Hi Debbie,

thank you. I'm fine. Life changed a bit due to economic crisis.
And yes it was a hard decision. I finally placed my vote some days ago.
When the shortlist has been released I only knew to books from the list: LAST ARGUMENT OF KINGS by Joe Abercrombie and THE WAY OF SHADOWS by Brent weeks. I thought it wouldn't be equitable to vote when I know two books. Unfortunately the books by Juliet Marillier and Brandon Sanderson are part of series. And the books by Andrzej Sapkowski have a totally confusing release order in Germany and UK.
Finally I decided to buy and read the whole MISTBORN trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. AND I DID. What a great read! I hade to decide between Brent Weeks, Joe Abercrombie and Brandon Sanderson.
I read again that post ABOUT YOUR VOTE. In the end I voted for HERO OF AGES by Brandon Sanderson because
- it is a book written in "the spirit" of David Gemmell
- it is the more than worthy final book of the trilogy

Now I await eagerly the 19th of June 2009 !

I was bit late with my question for Jacqueline Carey but fortunateley I made it. This year I started to read more interviews. So I look forward
To read the interview with Jacqueline Carey. I didn't read one of her books so far... Too many interesting books and so little time

All best

Hi Deborah,
Just found it in a Google search. Must be a new run of the cover. I blended the image of my face in myself, im a graphic designer. Im also working on a large Pencil drawing from the Deathwalker book. Should be cool. Yeah, the site is cool, my kind of thing really. And thanks for the comment, much appreciated.
