I have been a fan of Juliet's books since reading the first of her books Daughter Of The Forest a couple of years ago. I wait rather impatiently for each new book, and read the books (all of them, and I am lucky enough to own all her so far published books) over again. I think that she write's her stories in a very believable way, and has such strong believable characters (with flaws and virtues), and interesting story line's that pull you right in there. Also love the way she describes the surrounding's and world the stories are set in, you feel as though you are there. I have also read and own her two young adult books and found them just as enjoyable as adult reading. I would have no hesitation in recommending her books for reading. I would love to see Juliet win this award with Heir To Sevenwaters, as I really believe her book is well worth winning this award. Kiwi

I really enjoyed Juliet Marillier's recent Heir to Sevenwaters. It gave me a different feeling than the Sevenwaters trilogy, which takes place in the same setting and shares many of the same characters. This story is more mysterious and intriguing, probably because most of the action takes place in the strange and dangerous realm of the Fair Folk. Clodagh is a fabulous heroine. She doesn't have any special abilities, nor is she all that courageous, yet she does whatever she can to protect the people she loves. This book certainly stands out as an exciting, romantic, magical tale that begs for further sequels.

Juliet is a rather dedicated writer, in my view of thing, and is very appreciative to her fans. There is a website called ' Juliet Marillier Cafe ' which many, many people visit and discuss her work and other things. But my favourite part of it is because she has her own Q & A thread, so you can see that she does answer her fans. Another thing is that her plot lines for her books are absolutely terrific! Wildwood Dancing being my personal favourite just because it was the first read I did by her work, had a very intruiging plot line and at one point, I refused to put it down; but once my bladder filled up, I had no choice (Yes I understand you didn't need to hear that, but its a good demonstration, I think). Her characters are all well developed in the end of each book she has wrote, and I think that truley Juliet Marillier is just one of the best Fantasy writers of this generation. She is, and always will be, my favourite author.

At least its honest Brooke. Its happened to me before now with books. I've got my drink ready, I've got my duvet, I've even got a snack to keep me going. Then next thing I know just as Im all ready to roll, its loo break time. Shame it never tells you before you get comfy. LOL

Juliet Marillier must be dabbling in magic somewhere for all her novels are bewitching. Every page is dripping with magic which fastens a reader to its pages from first thing in the morning to last thing at night (hardly stopping for food and toilet breaks). From personal experience I know this.

Her latest novel ‘Heir to Sevenwaters’ is no exception to this glorious tradition. Indeed, I think it’s one of her best works to date. It’s true that she is revisiting one of her old settings, even incorporating some of her former characters. But ‘Heir to Sevenwaters’ is a step forward from the original series – what I mean by this is that it’s not about what was there in the older novels, but how the way of life for those characters is changing.

And THAT is Marillier. NEVER do her characters arrive at the end of their journey the same person they were at the beginning of it. NEVER are any of them spared from hardships along their quests. Her characters grow in their learning and practically live on the page. The way Juliet paints her worlds and her characters is truly magnificent. And how she tells of the love between family members and the romantic love between man and woman is heart melting.

Her latest novel is a thrilling saga, full of adventure, romance and of course magic. It defiantly deserves its place in the top five and if voters would allow themselves to be touched by her magic, I’m sure it has a very good chance of being top of the list. Have a read people and tell me whether or not you agree with me!

Juliet Marillier has grown in stature to become one of the greats of historical fantasy, comparable to the best of earlier generations such as Mary Stewart. True historical fantasy is an under-rated and under-populated genre. We need more Marilliers!

I love Heir to Sevenwaters because the books are written like the myths and stories of the druids. A long and trying journey during which the reader is cheering for the main character but cannot believe they can still continue with what they face. The perseverance and strength that Juliet's characters show cannot help my make you love them. I agree with a previous statement i could not put the book down. Reading it was like stepping in to a myth or story that captures and enthralls any reader. This is why i believe she deserves to win this award. Her characters realness, their weaknesses, i find myself rooting for characters and dont know why until later when they become a big part in the story. Its amazing. I spend my time waiting by rereading her books and books of the historical fiction genera.
