This was a wonderfully witty and entertaining story and was populated with such brilliantly conceived characters, including the best anti-hero I've come across.

I won't be voting for it, but it is definitely in my top 5.

I think that thats part of the problem Greyweather, theres so many good books on the list, picking a fav has been very difficult.

I think this would make a great screenplay - the story is made more exciting by the various flashbacks and character pieces. The world was very realistic but is this really a fantasy novel? I felt it was more like historical fiction. Nonetheless, it was very well written and the various twists and turns kept me entertained.

The Company is an excellent example of the "hard fantasy" sub-genre, where the fantasy setting closely follows the laws of science.
