Whew, a long title but the new book by author Stan Nicholls. Here's the place to chat about his books as well as this, the book for which he has been nominated. So are the Orc's top of the pile for you? Get your grunt on and tell everyone why?
I'm enormously grateful to my publisher, Gollancz, for nominating me. But ... having accepted the position of Chair for the DGLA, I don't think it's proper to be in the running. So I'm withdrawing Orcs: Bad Blood 1 from the longlist. Don't get me wrong; I'd love to even be considered for something as prestigious as this award, but everything we do has to be completely above board and transparent. We want the DGLA to be as open and democratic as possible, and being part of the steering committee doesn't sit well with allowing my nomination to go forward.
But once I've given up the Chairmanship after next year's ceremony, and we have a proper election for my successor ... well, if anybody wants to nominate me then I'd be ecstatic!
That Dave Gemmell would approve is the best compliment I could have - thank you. Our guiding principle at every stage of this thing is, "What would Dave think?"
