Favourite Book By David Gemmell

Thought that it might be a good one to get everyone warmed up with and its going to be a mega chat as to be honest with 30 titles to pick from it could end up fists at dawn over a bottle of the Old Lentrian Red. (Can't you tell where my votes going already. LOL)

Anyway, which is your favourite book by David and why?

For me its Legend, and whilst many would say that its perhaps not his best or that his later titles had more skill behind them I have to stick to his first book. I think its the passion behind the writing that gets me everytime, the fact that whilst he was waiting for test results he threw himself into this world full tilt and brought out the heroes who were scared of the dark but faced it anyway.

The way that ol Druss stalked the walls of Dros Delnoch delivering death until his own time and the way he wouldn't give in until the last. Yep, for me its the passion with which the book comes across that really still sells it to me and I think I read it around four times a year for the sheer enjoyment I get from each scene within. Damn I wish I could write like that.

Their is not a GEMMELL Book that i have not enjoyed. The 1st i read was "SWORD IN THE STORM" after that i was hooked. WAYLANDER and DRUSS, my fav characters.

AH! No way I can answer this. I guess my favourite book is the last one I've read which for me is Dark Prince, which was fantastic.

I only need to read Knights of Dark Renown and Winter Warriors and I've read them all.

I supposed Legend I have read three times which for me is unprecedented, normally I never read a book more than once. Too many other books out there needing reading.

read all the gemmell books and am going to read them all again! and again....you get the picture.
my favourite has to be white wolf, i dont know why i jus think skilganon is such a great character, mainly because he has so many problems hanging on his shoulders yet he still manages to continue on.

For me it is Legend. Its a simple story with great characters and a message that should motivate all who read it.

Sword in the Storm was the 1st David Gemmell book I read, and I was a fan from then on.
Druss & Waylander are great, and enjoyed Dark Moon.
Not had a bad book yet, and still quite a few to go.

Just finished Winter Warriors, As have been reading Drenai Saga

This is sooooooooo hard to do, but I think my favorite of his books is actually Morning Star. I just found Jace's character to be really interesting and fresh.

i havent read all 30 >< but i cant go past Hero in the shadows !!

Absolute, insane story line~~

Waylander has such a charisma, one of the deepest characters in the drenai series in my opinion :)

How in the world can you choose 'one' of Gemmells books:) They get better with each reading. I think id have to go with the first one i read that made me a fan which actually was 'Chronicle of Druss the Legend' loved finding out how Druss become the Legend. The only one i havent read as iv'e said in another post is 'White Knight, Black Swan' by his alias Ross harding and only foray into modern fantasy. And perhaps the rumoured story he wrote with his daughter that was lost by his publishers years ago. I own all his books and read them all at least once a year.

Adore all the books so a toughie to pick one. Love Knights of Dark Renown. It just flows so well and is unputdownable. Also set great store by the Shannow novels. The Sippstrassi stuff had me throw a book across the room calling the author unmentionable names especially as the book wasnt supposed to be one!!!! but my god how well written. The guy was pure and utter genius.

Waylander was good, Druss is better. Any lifer E9 can relate to The First Chronicles. Druss talking to the dead soldier is the most vivid- but i cant talk any more about that. So my vote is for The First Chronicles with any Rigante selection a close second.

Laird thats a tough question to anser just one ? hmm have to say druss holds a speshal place in my hart for many resions i first herd legend in hospital after loosing an eye a very dark time for me personally listening and later reading the book for myself gave me somthing to look forwards to so my vote has to be for legend

saying that i dont think mr gemmle ever wrote a bad book
